Halo: Reach is the forthcoming (and final) chapter from current developer studio Bungie, ending their control over the Xbox Halo franchise. Set in 2552 on the controlled planet Reach, and players once again adopt the Spartan armour as Noble 6 and, together with Noble Squad, the gamer is tasked with defending their home from the terror known as the Covenant. However, Halo: Reach is a prequel to Bungie’s first award winning “Halo: Combat Evolved” title.

Primarily conceived to be an updated version of the Xbox Halo franchise entry Halo 3, the idea was scrapped, Bungie stating they would redesign and augment the quality of the Halo 3 designs. Referring back to the Halo: Combat Evolved production designs, this means the new weapon, armour and enemy designs in Halo: Reach will differ greatly from prior entries but retain the ethos of the Xbox Halo franchise.

Stating that they will not leave the Xbox Halo franchise without fireworks, the company are seeking to greatly improve the visual performance of all gaming areas, right down to the weaponry. This obviously required Bungie to create a fresh new engine in Halo: Reach, with the AIbeing improved and tweaked to deliver better support for the gamer as they encounter the enemy.

So following all these promises of fusing vastly improved visuals and improved AI and designs, can Bungie depart the Xbox Halo Franchise on a high and maintain their reputation for producing the best FPS for the Xbox 360? Theonly way to be sure is to grab a copy when it is released in the coming months!
