Some PC users are aware of Vundo, a Trojan that will attack their web browser, while displaying popups and advertisements. Others names being used to describe this threat are Virtuemonde and Virtuemondo. Vundo reaches the user’s system via spam emails which contain links to malicious websites which exploit security weaknesses in the web browser and in browser plugin such as Java. The main goal of Vundo is to attack the browser via Browser Helper Objects and change the user’s web-browsing experience in a way that certain rogue security applications get promoted. Once it has infected your PC, this Trojan will start to show popups inside your compromised browser. You will give fake warning related to security threats. To protect your PC, this Trojan will tell you to install a fake and compromised antivirus system. Vundo will change the background of your desktop. This virus might also change your screensaver to the “Blue Screen” of Windows. It will display some false security warning too. Vundo also disables the Task Manager, Registry Editor and System Restore to prevent its removal.

You might have success if you do try to remove manually this Trojan from your system, it has been done before. The manual removal includes unregistering DLLs, deleting any files related to Vundo besides its registry values. Before doing such a manual removal, restart your PC in Safe Mode.

From there you will need to scan your computer using whatever security client you like best. Then use your antivirus solution to delete this Trojan, or do it yourself manually.

    Very Nice posting. Vundo Trojan are really dangerous for the PC. If it attack to system 32, Then you need to format the system where you can lost all the save data and files in the particular drive. So, full scanning is very much essential remove the virus and keeps on updating the antivirus. Moreover the post is very informative. Thanks for the share.
