Grinding, sometimes also called farming, can be a very good way to make some money, especially as you get higher in levels and have more options on where to go. If you are just starting out and are grinding for money i suggest staying with humanoid monsters. They drop money as well as descent drops you can sell. When farming to get money, try not
to keep all the loot. Learn what drops sell best. This can be done at the auction house with a short amount of|little.
In Elwynn Forest, the Defias are a good way to get started. Trolls are great if you are a dwarf. They will give money and items which can be sold.
Quests are another way to earn alot of money. Also, once you hit level 10, dont just rush forward to the next area. You can now travel around the world. Try questing in the other starting areas at this point. It shouldnt take very long since you are higher level than most of the creatures. If geared properly, you should be making a lot of money. Doing this also builds reputation which is critical later in your game. It is a good idea to go to the other areas while you still get experience and run their quests.
Once you reach around level 35 you should be able to start soloing Deadmines. This is one of my favorite gold grinding places at this level. just drop any white or greys and make sure you have the biggest bags available. I still wind up dropping some of the greens i get because I just do not have the room to cary them all. Check the auction house before you go to see what to drop and what to keep.

Learning to use the auction house can be one of the most rewarding investments of time in. By watching what is selling and for how much you can flip items. To start flipping just buy under market priced items and resell them for the market value. Usually, I re sell items double what i payed for them. Remember to consider your auction house fees when looking at your profits.
You can make more money by choosing the right professions. If you are interested in making money stick with the gathering professions. Skinning and Mining are both easy to level and profitable. when mining you should check your auction house to see if raw ores or smelted ores sell better. This can vary by server, and even changes from time to time. Often I have found, selling the raw ores is more profiatable. However I have seen some servers where smelted ores generally sold better.
Herbalism can also be very profitable especially with the Inscriptioning introduced in WoTLK.
