Computers Are Too Gory for Kids
The more vivid the graphics, the better. The race to increased market sales is on for different gaming manufacturers as almost every month, state-of-the-art technology are incorporated with each video game. With characters that come almost nearly to life, the gamers are bombarded with details that lead others to believe they would rather not see – too much blood for example. Places like walmart get these games off their shelves as fast as they can stock them, but it leaves some people saying that the games are too violent?
Naturally, there are two opposing sides on this question. On the first hand there are people who believe that video games are ok the way they are. Their reason is that discipline depends on the player and that this would determine up to what extent the influence could be. It has become a matter of self-control and a measure of putting things into proper perspective. If there are gamers who are reported to be violent after a couple of hours playing, then the assumption would be the lack of discipline, and not because of the game itself.
On the other hand however, this point is the same argument as those who believe that video games are too violent. This strong emotion is triggered by the hard core action and realistic effects that some have difficulty detaching their selves from it. Reality is depicted as it is, and sometimes even more exaggerated to an extent, to achieve the credits for full effects without realizing that a gamer might not be able to distinguish which is happening in “real life” from those that occur only in the game.
There is an argument to be made either way, but we still don’t know if it really causes gamers to turn violent. The debate can go on, but to be helpful to gamers, there are several ways with which any retaining effects can be prevented. First is to allot a specific time of the day and limit the number of hours you play. These are especially for people who have not much will-power to identify reality from not. Sticking to a regement will help you learn discipline.
Secondly is to know when enough is enough. As soon as you find yourself too highly involved in the death of a character or in a loss against an opponent, breathe. It has the dual effect of clearing your mind and normalizing the gamers body after an adrenaline surge. Third is for parents, who are allowing their kids to play video games. At a young age, discipline should already be imbibed at this crucial formative stage. The impressions may be hard to remove once it affects a child deeply and without guidance, so the task then falls upon the parents. If you want a game that is fun and not overly violent then you should think about buy legend of zelda namely buy oracle of seasons.
Objectivity may be hard when broaching the subject of violence and technology might be too diverse to understand. What can be sure, though, is that individual’s should have their own mastery of technology so that thy won’t have to ask if video games are too violent.
